What's more important: hard work or intelligence?
Both hard work and intelligence can contribute to a successful life, but the question that raises is which is more important.
While intelligence is an inborn ability and can discriminate people from each other, hard work is something developed and applicable to everyone. By looking at what it takes to mold a person, I would say that hard work plays a far more important role in achieving success than intelligence.
1. First hard work requires a lot of patience and commitment.
2. Second a hard working person gets used to challlenges.
3. Finally, a mind set on growth encourages a positive perspective on life. This will build on confidence and boost chances to success.
Reasearch showed that people who rely solely on intelligence are more vulnerable to failure, lack motivation to learn and fear challenges. It is true that in some fields success requires more intellectual talent, but this alone is not enough; one needs the perseverence not only to to complete a task but to go on with another that would come, and here is where commitment comes into place.
So what it pays off in the end is the commitment and hard work, not ranking high in IQ tests.
